I thought I'd mention that I'm working around the problem of a broken template by rewriting the custom css code on the bottom of the style sheet in the theme style folder located on the server. It is unfortunate that I can no longer use the backend Presentation area, but at least--I'd really like to know what the story is with that.

Which version are you using? Did you upgrade to the latest version 3.7, because it's working fine for me on this site and other sites.
